MANKA FOKWA

Ms. Mankaa Fokwa, born Mankaa Helen Ntumngia, is the proud mother of five lovely children, four 6 a girl. She comes from the village of Bafut in the Southern Cameroons.

EDUCATION:
She completed Primary School and went to PSS Batibo for her secondary Education graduating in 1976. She then continued to CCAST Bambili for her high school education where she graduated in 1978. Ms. Fokwa’s University Education started at the University Center of Agriculture Dschang, Cameroon where she earned her first degree in Animal Husbandry in 1982. In 1991, she graduated from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Sciences.

In 1996, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from St. Francis University in Loretto, Pennsylvania. In 2014, she graduated with a Masters of Science Degree in Nursing specializing as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

As a Registered Nurse, Ms. Fokwa’s areas of clinical expertise included Trauma/ Surgical/Neuro/Medical Intensive Care Units, Telemetry units, High Risk Obstertrics, Labor and Delivery and Post -Partum Units.

As a Family Nurse Practitioner, Ms. Fokwa provided direct patient care to homeless patients, provided evidenced based educational information and guidance to homeless patients on their medical conditions in the streets of Los Angeles. Working with patients with mental health, substance use, incarceration and homelessness and seeing them succeed has been a very rewarding experience.

PERSONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

Started a non-profit organization (Friends of Africa Medical Group) since 1999 that has built a 100 inpatient bed hospital in Bafut, Southern Cameroons, W. Africa.
