Jalia Nagawa Walusimbi (UGANDA)
Jalia Nagawa Walusimbi was born and grew up in Busiika village, Luwero district in Uganda to Bitaamisi Namatovu and Hajji Asumani Muwanga. she attended Kibuli primary and secondary school. As a child, she loved singing and performing Miriam Makeba songs and other popular songs. she is married to a businessman/ political activist abbey Kigozi Walusimbi for the last 28 years and a mother of 5. she is a trained and certified food handler licensed to prepare and serve food and beverages at restaurants and established hotels in the united states.
Jalia is Ugandan/American recording artist-(nja kuyimba album 1994) songwriter, actress-(love collision 2012) entertainer and businesswoman-(jaliz cuisine of east Africa restaurant). She has performed with renown band and groups like tabley, peterson matovu and the tames, shamita, soukous stars, huit kilo, nana chaku, dodo munoko, and black pearls. she has participated at the Bantufest annual festival as a stage play actor in 2018 & 2019.
She is a businesswoman, social activist, and a performing artist. Jalia is a prominent member/leader in the Ugandan community in California USA. she is so passionate about helping/working with fellow community members in humanitarian and social work. She is popularly known in her community as Aunty Jalia.
Her contribution to the building of her Ugandan community in California is respected and applauded by many. As a humanitarian at heart, AFRIFAMUACAA 2020 is glad to list her amongst the African Community Achievement Award recipients representing Uganda.
