BORIS KODJOE
Actor and former model Boris Kodjoe, born of a German psychologist mother and Ghanaian physician father is Known for his roles in Soul food, Residence Evil, Brown sugar, undercover, the gospel, surrogates, the real husbands of Hollywood, the last man on earth, and many more. Amongst dozens of credits he could be seen starring as Dr. Will Campbell on “Code Black,” a medical drama on CBS and presently playing a heroic firefighter on Station 19 on ABC.
In 2008, he and his wife Nicole Ari Parker launched Sophie’s Voice Foundation to raise awareness about and research funding into spina bifida, a congenital birth defect involving the incomplete development of a baby’s spinal cord that can affect a child’s ability to walk and other functions. Their daughter, Sophie, was born with spina bifida. The Atlanta-based foundation supports global health and wellness initiatives in multicultural communities.
Boris Kodjoe attended Virginia Commonwealth University on a tennis scholarship, which was later dashed because he was diagnosed with a rare spinal deficiency and graduated with a bachelor's degree in marketing. In summer 2018, Boris Kodjoe, the Virginia Commonwealth University alumnus and athletics hall of fame, received an honorary degree after delivering the commencement speech.
Boris Kodjoe is the creator of Full circle festival Ghana that was founded on the basis to establish and honor the ancestry heritage of the African culture. He organized a star-studded voyage to Ghana for the just ended full circle festival with more than 50 A-listed celebrities from Hollywood in attendance. The just ended festival witnessed African American celebrities experience Ghana in its entire valor, which includes the vibrant and colorful culture, a loving and compassionate people, and the beauty in the fashion, music, and food. Boris has made us proud and AFRIFAMUACAA is happy to honor a son, (Boris Kodjoe ) who did not forget his roots with the Cultural Inspirational Revelation Award this February 24th.
