Anita Eyong

Anita Eyong is a Cameroonian, born with a selfless nature who’s calling to serve others is known to all around her. In 2016, she decided to begin her active journey in serving the less privileged while in the United States of America. She began looking into where she could volunteer to serve others. Her husband introduced her to a community church Called NEW ROCK OF BAPTIST COMMUNITY CHURCH and ever since her life has never been the same. she is involved with an outreach program (food ministry) in the community where every Wednesday they distribute groceries and more. She has been an active member and a volunteer for almost 3years. Anita and her team have carried out four successfully shipments of containers filled with clothes, shoes, etc mostly nonperishable. They also organized a workshop in Douala, this last summer with the main goal to teach/educate, share ideas on some of the challenges African Youths face on a daily basis and propose solutions and also looking for ways to help Cameroonian youths by getting them out of.

Anita and her team have carried out four successfully shipments of containers filled with clothes, shoes, etc mostly nonperishable. They also organized a workshop in Douala, this last summer with the main goal to teach/educate, share ideas on some of the challenges African Youths face on a daily basis and propose solutions and also looking for ways to help Cameroonian youths by getting them out of the streets to become self-sufficient. It has always been one of her greatest desires in life to be able to provide resources and help the community, inviting guest speakers from different places to speak on issues that affect the African youths and developing pathways to growth and sustainability.

Anita also paid some families rent as a way of community sharing. She and her team went to MASIMBOM in Foumbot, the Eastern part of Cameroon, to contribute and distribute food items like rice, Maggie, salt, cooking oil, etc. They had planned this giveaway with the aim of feeding at least 2,000people in the year 2019. These individuals were informed through surveys, interviews and also visiting the chiefs or heads of the villages to inform them about her team and the intentions.

Some of the kids in those villages have never seen the four walls of a classroom because their parents cannot afford the fees, books nor medical aid. Most of these villages are inaccessible with cars, because of the road conditions but she is happy her team could do all they can to get to the people in need. It’s hard to describe the struggles these people are going through. Kids never owned a toy, good clothes or shoes, sometimes even food to eat, some go to school with thawed uniforms and no shoes, and some of them walk miles to school. Her team took care of 1year old blessing’s medical bill who became very sick when her mum got killed by a stray bullet while traveling between Muyuka and Kumba due to the ongoing struggle in the Engish speaking regions of Cameroon. Anita is calling on more people to get involved in community building through giving.

At AFRIFAMUACAA, we are very proud to celebrate Anita Eyong as our youngest community servant who has to beat all the odds to become an instrument of change for her community and generation.
