Godisz Fungwa

BIOGRAPHY

Born on the 13th of November 1995, he is the eldest child to his mother ,His father was a tailor and his mother, is a nurse. Godisz cannot remi ember having any other dream than to ACT. By secondary school, he had become part of his school's (GBHS Bamenda") theatre troupe, and NOBLE THEATER ARTS ENTERTAINMENT which he co-founded. His parents considered it, at the time, to be a more useful distraction for a teenager, that was until he began skipping classes and putting too much focus on theatre. It then became a cause for concern for his parents. It was no longer the harmless distraction they thought it would be: it came with all the symptoms of passion; something which was not in line with what his father had dreamed for him--to become a teacher. To his parents, acting was supposed to be a teenage phase but for him, it had long ballooned into a career, a recurring dream

When Godisz got into the University of Buea in 2014, it was because he could not get into ENS Bamenda to become a teacher as his dad had planned. The next tentative option was for him to study English in UB until his father could save money to ensure that he would eventually get into ENS come hell or high water. But life happened. In 2015, his dad fell sick and money which had been saved to follow up Godisz's eventual admission into ENS had to be deferred to his father's health. But he died, along with that dream, this man who had thought Godisz how to sew, how to iron hundreds of clothes without missing on wrinkle was gone.

In the meantime, Godisz had been sneaking himself into the movie industry while in the university. And with his parents far off in Bamenda and unable to chaperone his every move, he glided easily, opting to build a career at the background of films, working with a production house know as NEW GENERATION ENTERTAINMENT (NEGENET), acting as a production assistant on sets such as "Breach of Trust"Broken marriage*"A man for the weekend" Cameroonian director and actor, Nkanya Nkwai spotted his enthusiasm and deftness in production management and registered him for a training organized by festival Ecran Noir in 2017"FORMATION ISCAC*. Armed with these skills, he began working in different movie sets under Karl Safindah as assistant production manager.

By 2018, he decided with a group of friends and colleagues including Wilfred Planner, konfor Lisette, Franzel, to segue into acting and doing their own productions through their Timeless Pictures production house. This move materialized in skits such as "At First Sight* and the viral "Pickpocket"skit and "RICHARD* web series, and was casted in the sitcom CITE MALINGO His years of working behind the camera were beginning to pay off and surfaced when he received the call from actor and writer.

Lynno Lovert to audition for the movie Saving Mbango. He had not met the producer and co-producer of the movie yet but knew only of her reputation. He had done a few auditions for the series Samba and other films but did not get the roles. With his years behind the camera, he had reached the conclusion that oftentimes auditions were merely an elaborate stunt. some distraction to create buzz but were not necessarily meant for the purpose of scouting talents. Most producers and directors already had their minds made up on whom to play what role before doing auditions. And so when he eventually went to audition for Saving Mbango, it was almost certain to him that despite getting a standing ovation, he might not get a role and even when he received the script, he knew he would get, at most, a minor role. Lynno broke the news-he would be playing John, a struggling young adult, from an increasingly dysfunctional family, who falls in love with a girl who was essentially an untouchable.

saving Mango is Godisz breakthrough performance. He is raw, intense and unmatched. Scene after scene, line after line, he delivers a sparingly award winning performance, contorting himself through a wringer of emotions - Joy, anger, the toolishness, blindness and selflessness that characterizes true love, and grief. He is effortless, steady, and confident.

saving Mbango placed Godisz at the top of cameroon's movie industry. But his humility is clear in the way he talks of the fame like an outsider, his focus purely on conquering the world with his acting. He is undoubtedly Cameroon movie industry's biggest revelation.
